5 Minutes to Mindfulness

5 Minutes to Mindfulness

While everyone, everywhere is channeling that “new year, new you” mindset and creating resolutions, we’re focusing on intentional living. Here at CLEAN, our team is super passionate about creating balance and maintaining healthy habits (for the body and mind) all year round. For us, when January hits, it’s more of a refocusing period than a big life overhaul.

We’ve found that a quick mental reset each day is key to a less-stressed mind. All you need is five minutes and an open heart.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Sit comfortably in a quiet space (or use headphones). Try to choose the same time each day, to help create a routine. Light your favorite SPACE candle to set a relaxing glow.
  2. Close your eyes. Slowly, take two deep breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth. Go back to your natural breathing rhythm and feel your chest expand and contract with each breath. Center your mind on the sensations you feel while breathing.
  3. Continue to focus on your breathing. When thoughts start to enter your mind, simply note them as such: just thoughts. If your mind wanders, gently pull it back.
  4. After a few minutes of mindful breathing and thought-noting, softly open your eyes. With daily practice, your mind will soon feel more calm and clear.

Pro Tip: We like to spritz one of our Linen & Room Sprays after each short meditation. It brightens the room and leaves us feeling a bit more revitalized. Since scent is the biggest trigger to memory, it also helps us associate the fragrance with a calm, focused feeling any other time we use it.

Finding the motivation to do this may seem hard at first. But after a few times, it’ll hopefully become a ritual you love, to realign yourself every day.
